Abdul-Azeez Taiwo Olaimika Thunder aka Ijoba Irorun, the son of legendary Nigerian footballer, Tesilim Akanni Balogun, has released his debut audio-visual album titled, Omolere.
The 4-tracker album which was released under the budding Islamic vocalist’s imprint, Ijoba Irorun Music Entertainment, consists of melodious songs including Omolere, Owo Eku, Ju jin’na, and Eni eleni.
The body of work is recorded and mixed by Tesh Mix Digital Studio while the video is directed by Ridwan Ajileye.
The album was launched at the Iwo City Hall, Osun Sstate, and was graced by top personalities, chiefs, and Islamic scholars in the state.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the project, Thunder said singing is God’s blessing.
“Mostly, I get inspiration from assimilation and reflection of what is happening around me. I don’t sit down to write songs, my lyrics come from over-thinking of God’s wonders. The inspiration flows naturally from my creator,” he said.
Continuing the artist who started singing at a tender age but bowed out due to parent’s pressure said the album to showcase his God’s given talents to the world.
“I started singing in 2002 but I don’t have the backing of my parent so I was forced to quit. But, in 2010 after performing at a Quranic ceremony and I found myself singing again. I have suffered criticisms from the quarters but this album is to prove critics wrong. This is why I need marketers who can promote this project. Though, since launched, the album has generated positive feedback from fans across the state.”
On his challenges recording the album, the singer said revealed up that he borrowed money from friends to complete the project.
“I started the recording of this album in 2019. It was delayed till this time because I didn’t have enough money to book the recording session. I had to plead with the producer to allow me to record a track then went back after some month to record another one because I have to rally around to hustle and also borrow money from family and friends. But, I received the mastered copy from the producer in December last year.
“Since, then, I have been sourcing for marketers. I traveled to Lagos and also went on radio stations including Radio Lagos but marketers are complaining about low sales due to the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown.”
