By Ayomide Otitoju

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ayo Sotinrin as the new Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, with immediate effect.

The announcement was made Friday in a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, who highlighted Sotinrin’s extensive background in agribusiness and infrastructure development.

Prior to the appointment, Sotinrin served as Group CEO of SAO Group, where he oversaw large-scale agricultural initiatives including a 20,000-hectare oil palm plantation and multiple food production projects in Ondo State. He also led SAO Capital in raising over $750 million in development finance.

Sotinrin holds degrees from Oxford and Warwick universities and has worked with institutions like the World Bank, AfDB, and DFID.

The appointment aligns with Tinubu’s push to revamp Nigeria’s agricultural sector and promote food security.
