Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) deployed in Sector 3 Mongunu, in collaboration with intelligence operatives and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have successfully intercepted a Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics supply syndicate at Cross Kauwa Market in Mongunu, Borno State.
Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer at HQ MNJTF N’Djamena, Chad, confirmed on Tuesday that the syndicate members, identified as Modu Gana, Mamman Saleh, and Babagana Muktar, were apprehended while transporting supplies intended for the terrorist group’s enclaves.
The detained individuals, who admitted to being key logistics providers for Boko Haram/ISWAP, were found in possession of a range of items meant to support terrorist activities. Seized goods included a techno phone, six goats, one carton of Maggi seasoning, a collection of charms, bags of Guinea corn and millet, grounded corn, metal bowls, a calculator, a wristwatch, perfume, prayer beads, 36 empty sack bags, and other essential supplies.
The suspects are currently undergoing rigorous interrogation to extract further intelligence that could lead to additional arrests and the dismantling of the terrorist logistics network in the Lake Chad Region.
“The MNJTF troops’ swift action and effective collaboration with intelligence operatives underscore their unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and enhancing regional safety and security,” the statement concluded.
