Trump Issues Ultimatum to Hamas Over Gaza Peace Plan

US President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Hamas, giving the militant group until 2200 GMT on Sunday (1:00 a.m. Monday in Gaza) to accept his 20-point peace plan for Gaza or face what he described as “all hell like no one has ever seen before.”

Trump delivered the warning on Friday via his Truth Social account, following Hamas’s request for additional time to review the proposal, which aims to end nearly two years of devastating conflict in the territory.

The plan, endorsed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, includes a ceasefire, the release of hostages within 72 hours, Hamas disarmament, and a phased Israeli withdrawal. It also envisions a post-war transitional authority led by Trump. “This LAST CHANCE agreement must be reached,” the former president warned.

Hamas remains divided over the plan. While some leaders view unconditional approval as a path to a ceasefire under Trump’s guarantees, others are pushing for amendments to disarmament clauses and demand international assurances of a full Israeli withdrawal.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to worsen. Civil defence officials reported at least 11 deaths from Israeli strikes on Friday, including eight in Gaza City. The UN described Israel-designated zones in the south as “places of death,” warning that there is “no safe place in Gaza.” Amnesty International condemned the “catastrophic wave of mass displacement” as hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forced into overcrowded southern enclaves lacking food, clean water, and medical care.

Trump’s ultimatum marks his most forceful intervention in the conflict to date. While Arab and Muslim nations have expressed support for his peace framework, the divisions within Hamas and ongoing Israeli offensives leave the outcome uncertain, raising fears that the deadline could either achieve peace or escalate the war further.
