Nigerian football star and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen is set to be recognised at the 6th edition of the Timeline Awareness Initiative Lecture and Awards, scheduled to hold on May 29, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Currently on a season-long loan with Turkish club Galatasaray, Osimhen has netted an impressive 33 goals in all competitions this season. He will receive two distinguished honours: Timeline Nigeria Sports Personality of the Year and Africa Youth Ambassador.
The Timeline Awards, an annual socio-political event, aims to raise awareness on national issues and reward distinguished Nigerians for their contributions in various sectors. Osimhen’s consistent philanthropy—including a recent ₦10 million donation to Nigeria Premier League champions Remo Stars—has drawn widespread commendation.
Themed “Importance of Media in Information Gathering and Disclosure Amid Security Challenges: The Achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Other Barriers,” this year’s event will feature Senate President Sen. Godswill Akpabio as Chairman. Other dignitaries expected include Osun State Governor Sen. Ademola Adeleke, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, and Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu.
Keynote speaker Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), former Chief of Army Staff, will be joined by guest speakers Hon. Babajimi Benson, Chairman, House Committee on Defence, and Dr. Niyi Akinsiju of the Independent Media and Policy Initiative.
The event promises to celebrate leadership, service, and excellence, with Osimhen taking centre stage as one of Nigeria’s most impactful sporting ambassadors.
