Zenith Bank has fulfilled its ₦200 million pledge to Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, in recognition of their victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Ivory Coast.
The seven-time African champions were received by the bank shortly after their return from Abidjan, where they successfully defended their title, before being promised the reward for making the nation proud.
Confirming the fulfilment on its official X handle, the team wrote: “Promise made, promise kept. Zenith Bank has redeemed their pledge to the D’Tigress. We extend our sincere gratitude to the management and especially the GMD, Adaora Umeoji, a true pillar for women in sports. Thank you for standing with our Queens.”
Led by Coach Rena Wakama, D’Tigress delivered an unbeaten campaign, overpowering Rwanda, Mozambique, Cameroon, and Senegal before sealing a 78–64 victory over Mali in the final. The triumph marked their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title and seventh overall, with previous wins in 2003, 2005, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025.

years.
