By Ayomide Otitoju

The gospel music community is in mourning following the untimely death of rising star Aduke Ajayi, widely known by her stage name, Aduke Gold. The news of her passing was confirmed on Tuesday by fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele, who shared a heartfelt tribute on social media. Alongside a picture of Aduke Gold, Igbekele wrote, “A general has fallen. RIP.”

Aduke Gold’s death comes shortly after the recent loss of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who passed away on April 28, 2024. Igbekele also confirmed Orun’s death via an Instagram post at the time.

Reflecting on Aduke Gold’s impact, Igbekele noted, “Despite the competitive nature of the gospel music industry, Aduke Gold made a significant impact with her soul-lifting songs and unwavering dedication to her craft. Her talent and passion earned her a growing fanbase and increasing popularity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.”

A source close to the late singer revealed that Aduke Gold had been battling an illness for two months before passing away on Monday, August 12, at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

The loss of Aduke Gold has left a deep void in the gospel music industry, where her contributions and passion for her art will be sorely missed.
