Access Bank Backs Youth Innovation at STEM Africa Fest

By Ayomide Otitoju

Access Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and digital innovation by sponsoring the fifth edition of STEM Africa Fest, which drew over 3,000 children to the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos.

Themed “AI for Good: Solving Real-World Problems,” the event featured interactive zones spanning artificial intelligence, robotics, renewable energy, electric vehicles, coding, and virtual reality. Students built avatars, operated robotic arms, explored clean energy, and engaged with AI drawing tools in what organisers described as an “immersive STEAM experience.”

Speaking at the event, Daniel Awe, Group Head of Africa FinTech Foundry (an Access Bank initiative), described the sponsorship as a strategic investment. “This is not just a festival—it’s the foundation for developing Africa’s next generation of innovators,” he said.

Titi Adewusi, co-convener of the initiative, echoed that sentiment, calling the programme a “movement to raise problem solvers and future leaders.”

Kosiso Iwugo, Education Programme Manager at Access Holdings, noted the event aligns with the bank’s broader vision. “We want children to be inspired—not intimidated—by technology,” she said.

Since inception, STEM Africa Fest has impacted over 20,000 children across countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda. Access Bank’s sponsorship of the 2025 edition underscores its role in advancing digital literacy and positioning African youth for leadership in a tech-driven world.
