Wema Bank is set to host the first-ever Ghana edition of its NBC Trade Fair on October 4–5, 2025, at The Palms Convention Center in Accra, extending its flagship women-focused empowerment initiative beyond Nigeria for the first time.
The two-day fair will bring together small and medium-sized businesses in fashion, food, skincare, and lifestyle, offering entrepreneurs opportunities to showcase products, access new markets, attract investors, and connect with customers across West Africa.
Wema Bank described the expansion as part of its broader commitment to advancing inter-African trade, women’s economic empowerment, and financial inclusion. “The Ghana edition of the NBC Trade Fair is not just an exhibition, but a statement of our commitment to empowering African entrepreneurs and creating opportunities that transcend borders,” a bank spokesperson said.
The fair will feature on-site account opening, free BVN registration, paid NIN registration, instant virtual naira and dollar cards, giveaways, exclusive gifts, and access to the SARA women’s community. Attendees shopping with Wema Bank debit cards will be eligible for rewards, while new customers opening accounts through the ALAT app before the event will unlock additional benefits.
Economic analysts have welcomed the move as a boost to regional trade integration. Abena Owusu, an SME consultant based in Accra, noted: “Events like this show how Nigerian banks are reshaping business ecosystems in Ghana. It gives local entrepreneurs a chance to scale faster.”
Female business owners have also expressed optimism, saying the fair will provide valuable exposure and growth opportunities for women-led brands.
The Ghana edition marks a milestone for Wema Bank and could pave the way for further expansion into other African markets, reinforcing its position as a key player in women’s SME empowerment. Industry observers say the outcome of the Accra event will be critical in determining whether the model can be replicated across the continent.
