Polaris Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting financial literacy among young Nigerians through its participation in the 2026 edition of Global Money Week (GMW).
The annual global campaign, which began on April 7 and runs through April 30, is an initiative of Child and Youth Finance International in collaboration with financial institutions and government stakeholders to promote financial awareness and responsible money management among children and youths.
Polaris Bank said its involvement underscores the growing importance of equipping young people with financial knowledge in an increasingly digital and complex economic environment. The bank noted that financial literacy now extends beyond basic saving habits to include digital transactions, budgeting, and entrepreneurial thinking.
The 2026 theme, “Smart Money Talks,” focuses on encouraging informed financial decision-making while promoting critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and sound judgment among young people navigating modern financial systems.
According to the bank, its participation goes beyond regulatory compliance, reflecting a broader commitment to financial inclusion and youth empowerment. In line with directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Polaris Bank will conduct financial literacy sessions in schools across states where it operates.
The sessions are expected to cover key topics such as saving, budgeting, responsible use of financial products, digital financial services, and entrepreneurship, targeting students and young adults at formative stages of their lives.
Polaris Bank also highlighted the impact of its 2025 participation, during which it reached 3,372 students across 35 secondary schools nationwide.
The bank emphasised that early financial education is critical in helping young people make informed choices amid the influence of technology, peer pressure, and easy access to digital financial tools.
It added that by taking financial literacy initiatives directly to schools, it is contributing to the development of a financially informed generation capable of making responsible decisions and achieving long-term economic wellbeing.
Polaris Bank reiterated its commitment to initiatives that foster community development and empower individuals through knowledge-driven engagement.
