Norwegian top-flight club Molde FK has confirmed that Nigeria U20 midfielder Daniel Daga has been cleared to resume football activities following his acquittal by the Frostating Court of Appeal in Norway.
Daga had been sidelined for several months after facing a sexual assault case arising from an alleged incident reported to Norwegian authorities in April 2025.
The midfielder was convicted by a lower court in early 2026 and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, in addition to being ordered to pay legal costs. However, the verdict was overturned after an appeal, with the Frostating Court of Appeal unanimously acquitting the 19-year-old.
In a statement published on its official website, Molde confirmed the court’s decision and announced that Daga would be available for selection again despite the legal process not yet being fully concluded.
“Daniel Daga has been unanimously acquitted in the criminal case that has been heard by the Frostating Court of Appeal. Based on the verdict, Molde FK considers that Daga will once again be available for play, even though the verdict is not yet final,” the club said.
Daga joined Molde in 2025 after progressing through FC One Rocket, Dakkada FC and Enyimba, and was regarded as one of Nigeria’s brightest young midfield prospects before the legal proceedings interrupted his career in Norway.
He remained under the club’s supervision throughout the legal process.
Following the appeal court’s ruling, Molde is expected to gradually reintegrate the midfielder into training as he works towards regaining match fitness and restarting his career in European football.
