Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, is set to host Soundcity OnTour from August 18 to 20 as BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink bring live music, entertainment and talent discovery to Kaduna State.
The Zaria stop is the 15th of 20 university campuses included in the nationwide tour, which is taking a free concert experience and talent discovery programme to institutions across Nigeria between June and October.
A major feature of the activation is BIGI Music, a talent discovery platform designed to give student artistes an opportunity to showcase their abilities and compete for national recognition.
Campus activities will begin on Day One, followed by live BIGI Music auditions on Day Two. The top five student performers will earn the opportunity to perform on the main concert stage, while the overall winner will receive a ₦1 million prize.
The competition will continue beyond the campus level, with winners from different universities progressing to regional battles. The strongest performers will advance to the national stage, where two eventual winners will receive studio production, A&R mentorship led by Bankulli, Soundcity Radio rotation and professionally produced music videos.
The final day of the Zaria activation will feature a major concert at ABU, with performances from Nigerian artistes including Falz, Magnito, Firstklaz, Hypeman Best and DJ Dewik.
For Rite Foods Limited, the company behind BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink, the initiative provides an opportunity to engage young Nigerians through music, creativity and campus culture while supporting emerging artistes.
Following the Zaria stop, Soundcity OnTour will continue to other universities before concluding in Abuja in October.
At ABU, the event will offer students more than live entertainment, with emerging artistes given an opportunity to turn a campus performance into a potential pathway to national recognition.
