A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Abdulrahoof Bello, has blamed the Federal Government’s failure to formally designate bandits as terrorists for the renewed surge in insecurity across the country.
Speaking on a breakfast programme, Bello said he was unaware of any law enacted by the National Assembly classifying bandits as terrorists, describing the omission as a critical loophole. “That gap makes it difficult to treat them as such,” he stated, adding that the situation falls short of the “decisive action” expected from Nigeria’s leadership.
Bello also called on the Federal Government to amend the constitution and restore a regional system of administration. He described regionalism as the nation’s “factory setting,” arguing that reverting to it would place the country back on the path to stability and prosperity.
“The solution to insecurity in Nigeria is to go back to the factory setting – regionalism,” he said.
