Brookstone School has earned top honours at the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (BROCLA), reinforcing its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions for academic excellence.
The awards ceremony, organised by the British Council in partnership with Cambridge International Education, was held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, to celebrate students who achieved exceptional results in Cambridge examinations.
A major highlight of the event was the performance of Brookstone School, Port Harcourt, student Oreoluwa Awe, who secured two prestigious distinctions in the June 2025 IGCSE examinations. She was named Top in the World in English as a Second Language and also emerged Best in Nigeria across eight subjects.
The achievement further strengthens Brookstone School’s standing among the country’s top academic institutions and reflects its commitment to nurturing globally competitive learners.
Speaking on the recognition, Oreoluwa described the awards as a reward for years of dedication and hard work.
“It shows that all the late nights and hard work really paid off. I am grateful to my teachers, family and the support I receive at Brookstone. This achievement motivates me to work even harder and inspire other students to pursue excellence,” she said.
Her father, Engr. Afolabi Awe, expressed pride in her accomplishment, describing it as evidence that discipline, commitment and support can help young people excel on the global stage.
The Principal of Brookstone School, Dr. Bashiru Sadiku, said the recognition reflected the dedication of both students and teachers, as well as the supportive learning environment provided by the institution.
“Oreoluwa’s recognition at both global and national levels is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff. We are proud to see our vision of excellence reflected in such outstanding achievements,” he said.
With the latest honours, Brookstone School has reaffirmed its position as a centre of academic excellence, producing students who consistently excel and compete successfully at both national and international levels.
