The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Agidingbi Cathedral, Archdiocese, joined millions of Christians worldwide on Sunday to commemorate Palm Sunday, a sacred occasion marking the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
Leading the service, Most Superior Evangelist David Ogunrombi underscored the spiritual significance of the day, recounting how Christ fulfilled prophecy by riding into the city on a donkey and colt. “Jesus came in humility, yet was welcomed as King and David ,” he said. “The people honored him with their garments and palm fronds, recognizing his divine authority.”
Mother Celestia Sokoya Mariam Abeke , who used the platform to call for moral revival and a collective return to Christ.
“We urge government leaders and citizens alike to turn to Jesus,” said Sokoya. “He remains the only true source of deliverance for our nation’s challenges.”
Ogunrombi also highlighted the unity of the Celestial Church worldwide, stressing that the church remains one body regardless of geographical boundaries. “Whether in Lagos or London, we are united in Christ. The Celestial Church is indivisible,” he said.
He commended the leadership of Pastor Fanda and Pastor S.B.J. Oshoffa for maintaining the church’s spiritual foundation and doctrinal integrity. “Our leaders are committed to guiding us toward Christ, not conflict,” Ogunrombi noted. “When disputes arise, the church task force is deployed to restore peace and uphold unity.”
Reflecting on doctrinal deviations within the church, Ogunrombi encouraged patience and spiritual mentorship. “Our founder likened the church to a fisherman’s net that gathers all kinds,” he said. “With time and the right teachings, transformation is possible.”
In a strong appeal to national authorities, M.C. Osunjimi advocated for reintroducing moral and scriptural education in Nigerian public schools to address rising youth delinquency. “The erosion of moral values in our schools is alarming,” he said. “Bringing back moral instruction will help guide our children and restore discipline.”
The Agidingbi Cathedral reaffirmed its dedication to evangelism and spiritual development, urging members across the globe to continue preaching the message of Christ and living by example.
“Palm Sunday is a reminder that Jesus declared his kingship not just with words, but through action,” said Ogunrombi. “As Celestians, we are called to holiness, service, and unwavering faith.”
The celebration concluded with prayers for national leaders and a renewed commitment to the church’s mission of global evangelism and spiritual renewal.
