Chuck Norris, the legendary US martial artist and Hollywood action star best known for his role in Walker, Texas Ranger, has died at the age of 86, his family announced on Friday.
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” the family said in an Instagram statement. “He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.”
Norris had celebrated his 86th birthday last week, posting a video of himself boxing on social media with the caption, “I don’t age. I level up.”
The martial arts expert turned actor began his Hollywood career with a cameo in the 1968 Dean Martin film The Wrecking Crew. He rose to international fame in 1972 after his memorable fight scene with Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon, cementing his status as an action icon.
Over decades, Norris starred in numerous action films and the long-running television series Walker, Texas Ranger, captivating audiences with his martial arts skills, discipline, and charismatic screen presence.
His family’s announcement underscores the profound influence Norris had on both the entertainment industry and the millions he inspired worldwide.
