Confusion has trailed a social media post by Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta, which many initially mistook as an announcement of his son’s death.
The actor on Sunday shared an emotional tribute on Instagram that read:
“Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun
Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things.
Rest on Dear Son. Champ.”
The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread condolences from fans, colleagues, and followers who believed Chatta had lost his child.
However, colleagues within the Nollywood industry later clarified that the deceased was not Chatta’s biological son, contrary to the widespread assumption.
Though details remain unclear, insiders suggested that the late boy may have been a younger protégé or someone with whom the actor shared a close fatherly bond, prompting the heartfelt message.
The development has generated mixed reactions online. While many sympathizers insist the grief remains valid regardless of blood ties, others have urged clearer communication to avoid public confusion.
As at press time, Ibrahim Chatta has not issued further clarification, leaving fans awaiting an official statement.
