Ecobank Nigeria has entered into a partnership with the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CrediCorp) to offer affordable and flexible loans to customers. The loans can be used for various purposes, including school fees, rent, maintenance, medical bills, car purchases and repairs, asset acquisitions, and more. The initiative is open to civil servants and private-sector employees whose salaries are processed through Ecobank. New customers can also participate by submitting an employer’s undertaking to process future salaries through the bank. This program, launched in January 2025, features flexible repayment terms and a simplified loan application process.
CrediCorp, a federal government-established Development Finance Institution (DFI), is focused on improving access to consumer credit for Nigeria’s workforce. Under this partnership, CrediCorp will supply the necessary funds for Ecobank to provide loans to eligible customers. These loans include personal loans as well as asset financing for items such as solar systems, home appliances, mobile phones, laptops, and vehicle conversions to compressed natural gas (CNG).
Adeola Ogunyemi, Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank Nigeria, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to enhance financial access for salary earners in both the public and private sectors. “This partnership provides a valuable opportunity to serve our customers and improve the quality of life for many Nigerians,” Ogunyemi said. “Eligible customers can use the loans for electronics, solar systems, CNG vehicle conversions, and essential needs like school fees, rent, medical bills, and car maintenance. We encourage working-class Nigerians to open an account with Ecobank to benefit from this initiative.”
The loans offer affordable interest rates and come with a two-year term, ensuring equal monthly installments (principal and interest) that remain unchanged throughout the loan term, regardless of economic fluctuations.
