The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebrations.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
According to the statement, the minister congratulated Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion of Easter, urging them to reflect on the virtues associated with the season.
Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to embrace values such as selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. He also encouraged citizens to uphold tolerance and unity in fostering national cohesion.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to policies aimed at promoting national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity, while wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
April 3 marks Good Friday, while April 6 is observed as Easter Monday.
