Dangote Cement Plc has been recognised once again as Nigeria’s most tax-compliant organisation, receiving top honours from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for the second year running.
The award was presented during the FIRS Special Day at the 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair held at Tafawa Balewa Square. According to FIRS, Dangote Cement ranked first in the Large Taxpayer Group after a rigorous assessment conducted in partnership with tax controllers across multiple jurisdictions.
Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Mojisola Ogunlade, Group Head of Tax and Compliance at Dangote Cement, said the recognition reaffirms the company’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and full compliance with tax laws.
“This recognition is a testament to our dedication to meeting all compliance obligations and contributing to national growth,” Ogunlade said, adding that the company will continue to strengthen collaboration with FIRS and uphold global best practices that support a transparent tax system.
She noted that consistent recognition of compliant organisations serves as an incentive for the private sector to meet civic responsibilities. Ogunlade recalled that Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) paid over ₦402 billion in taxes in 2024, making it the country’s highest taxpayer that year.
Ogunlade explained that the Group’s world-class tax management framework ensures full adherence to statutory timelines, eliminates non-compliance risks, and reinforces a culture of responsible corporate governance. The latest award, she added, further motivates Dangote Cement to sustain its leadership in corporate governance and national economic development.
Earlier, the Director of the Taxpayers Service Department at FIRS, Dr. Lovette Onanuga, said the recognition underscores the importance of celebrating top-performing taxpayers. She stated that the 2025 list was compiled using nationwide inputs from tax controllers, with compliance, promptness, and professionalism as key criteria.
“Your partnership as taxpayers is essential to helping FIRS fulfil its mandate,” she said. “It is important that we honour your commitment in this special way.”
