By Ayomide Otitoju

Residents of 22 communities in Ibadan, Oyo State, will face daily three-hour power outages from Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced.

In a statement on Tuesday, IBEDC said the blackout is due to ongoing road construction along Foodco Road and Idi Isin, which has necessitated the relocation of its facilities and assets.

Affected areas include Alalubosa GRA, Ogunkola, Museum, Akinola Maja, FRIN, Forestry College, Lead City, Lead British, House 18, Eleventh House, Commissionaire, Nursing Home, Sunrise, and Post Housing. Customers in the AMI Complex, ODUA, Police Headquarters, Apampa, The Heavens, Blossom Heritage, Polo Clubs, and Baale Akintayo will also experience outages.

“Some feeders will be switched off for approximately three hours daily from Monday, 5th January 2026, to Friday, 9th January 2026,” the statement said, urging residents to plan accordingly.
