The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has inaugurated a high-level committee to review and harmonise the Scheme of Service and Harmonised Conditions of Service for officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The inauguration ceremony, held on 12 August 2025 at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, is aimed at modernising the administrative and operational framework of the NPF.
The 10-member committee, chaired by Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nemi Iwo, comprises senior officers from various specialisations and a representative of the Police Service Commission. It has been tasked with aligning the Police Scheme of Service with national public service rules and the Police Act, consulting key stakeholders — including the Police Service Commission, Ministry of Police Affairs, and Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation — and submitting an updated draft within two weeks.
IGP Egbetokun described the move as part of the Force’s commitment to professional development, improved welfare, and enhanced capacity to tackle contemporary security challenges. He noted that the initiative complements ongoing reforms aimed at improving living conditions and retirement benefits for both serving and retired officers.
