The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is owed over N40 billion by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), according to IPMAN President Abubakar Garima. Speaking on Channels Television’s Breakfast Show, Garima highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by petroleum marketers, who are still awaiting product allocation from NNPCL.
In response to the recent announcement by Dangote Refinery that it has more than 500 million liters of petroleum in reserve, Garima affirmed that independent marketers are prepared to purchase directly from the refinery if supply is feasible.
“We, the Independent Petroleum Marketers, are still waiting for NNPCL to load our product,” Garima stated. “Our members have over N40 billion in outstanding payments to NNPCL for products yet to be loaded. We would welcome the chance to buy directly from Dangote if the refinery can deliver.”
Garima further expressed concern over recent delays, sharing that marketers sent by NNPCL to load at the Dangote Refinery experienced prolonged wait times, some up to four days. “There are many challenges, and we’ve been reaching out to Dangote management, hoping for a direct supply solution. This would allow us to promptly collect products once payment is made,” he noted.
In light of Dangote’s 500 million liters stockpile, Garima reaffirmed IPMAN’s readiness to purchase, emphasizing that direct access would improve efficiency and resolve persistent supply issues.
