A Kano resident, Muhammed, has accused Air Peace of failing to refund N597,500 for a mistakenly booked flight ticket, despite meeting all the airline’s refund requirements.
The issue arose on September 17 when Muhammed purchased a ticket for a Liberian student traveling from Monrovia to Lagos. Due to a booking error, he mistakenly used another student’s name. As someone who frequently arranges flights for students, the mistake resulted from a default profile set for easier processing.
Upon realizing the error, he immediately contacted Air Peace to request a correction. However, the airline informed him that the ticket was non-refundable and that name changes were not permitted. Muhammed argued that the student whose name was mistakenly used was not traveling and that the actual traveler risked losing a scholarship if the issue was not resolved.
Following repeated appeals, Air Peace agreed to process a refund but requested additional documentation, including a letter of authorization from the individual named on the ticket. Muhammed complied and submitted all necessary paperwork in September, yet six months later, he has not received the refund.
Attempts to obtain a statement from Air Peace have been unsuccessful at the time of publication. The incident adds to a growing number of complaints regarding the airline’s handling of ticket cancellations and refunds.
