Lagos Mandates LASPA, LASTMA Approvals for Hospitality Parking, Traffic

By Ayomide Otitoju

The Lagos State Government has directed operators of hotels, event centres, nightclubs, and other hospitality businesses to obtain approval from both the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for parking and traffic management.

In a joint statement on Thursday, LASPA General Manager, Adebisi Adelabu, and LASTMA General Manager, Bakare-Oki Olalekan, said the move is aimed at curbing indiscriminate parking and easing congestion linked to hospitality establishments.

Business owners were urged to register and comply with the state’s parking and traffic regulations or risk prosecution under the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Laws 2018.

The agencies, both under the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, noted that LASPA is responsible for parking management, while LASTMA oversees traffic control. “While our functions are distinct, we work harmoniously towards achieving the state government’s agenda for improved traffic management and transportation,” the statement added.
