Manchester United have completed a £50 million ($67 million) renovation of their Carrington training complex, which co-owner Jim Ratcliffe described as a “world-class performance environment” aimed at helping the club return to the top of English football.
The upgraded facility, United’s base since 2000, was completed during the 2024/25 season, with Ruben Amorim’s squad moving into the refurbished men’s first-team building this week after returning from a pre-season tour of the United States.
Ratcliffe, who pledged $300 million for infrastructure when taking a minority stake in the club last year, said the swift investment followed a review of the site in 2023. “We are delighted with the outcome and are confident the new facility will play an important role in building a winning culture at the club,” he said.
The project was overseen by Foster + Partners, also commissioned to design a proposed 100,000-seat stadium. The revamp comes after United endured their worst season in 51 years, finishing 15th in the Premier League.
Amorim has been backed in the transfer market, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo signed, and Benjamin Sesko set to join from RB Leipzig in a £74 million deal. United have not lifted the league title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
