MTN Nigeria has hosted “Data on Trial,” a first-of-its-kind public engagement platform aimed at addressing customer concerns regarding mobile data usage, billing transparency, and digital consumption.
Speaking at the event, MTN Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Karl Olutokun Toriola, underscored the company’s commitment to transparency and customer trust in an increasingly digital environment.
According to Toriola, the initiative was built on the belief that trust grows when customers are provided with accurate information and the opportunity to form their own opinions.
“Data on Trial was created based on a simple belief. Trust with our customers grows when they are given access to information and allowed to make up their minds about it. Today’s event is an opportunity for everyone to understand the facts, understand the technology behind what delivers connectivity in real time, and ask the most difficult questions while hearing different perspectives,” he said.
The event brought together customers, media practitioners, content creators, technology experts, device manufacturers, and independent auditors to examine how data is measured, consumed, and billed across MTN’s network.
MTN said the initiative marks the beginning of a broader customer education and transparency campaign. In the coming weeks, the telecommunications company plans to roll out educational content, practical demonstrations, tips, and insights across its platforms to help customers better understand data usage and the factors influencing consumption.
The company added that feedback and discussions generated during the event would help shape future customer engagement initiatives, as it continues to explore innovative ways to listen to, educate, and engage customers.
MTN reaffirmed its commitment to placing customers at the centre of its operations and fostering open, honest, and meaningful dialogue through sustained engagement.
