Newcastle United have completed the signing of Bosnia and Herzegovina international Amar Dedic from Benfica for a reported £29.5 million.
The 24-year-old right-back becomes Newcastle’s sixth major signing of the summer transfer window and has agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League club.
Dedic will reunite with Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle, having previously worked under the German at RB Salzburg.
The defender is expected to join the squad ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League opener against Liverpool at St James’ Park on Sunday.
“It’s a special feeling and a really big honour for me to join Newcastle United,” Dedic said.
“I’m really happy to be here and can’t wait to start playing for the club and the amazing fans.
“Working with Matthias again was a big factor for me. We know each other well, he knows what I can bring on the pitch and I’m really happy to be playing for him again.”
