As part of its modernization drive, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched training sessions for Customs Area Controllers (CACs) and senior operational officers on the newly introduced Automated Transire Process. The initiative aims to improve cargo tracking, facilitate trade, and reduce revenue losses.
The training, held at the Apapa Customs Area Command, was led by Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) of ICT, Kikelomo Adeola, who explained the automation of cargo bond processes. The system allows real-time monitoring of shipments from ports to bonded terminals, ensuring transparency and compliance.
Adeola, represented by Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Z. Jaji, emphasized that the platform enhances trade efficiency, minimizes cargo diversion, and aligns with global best practices. Stakeholders, including bonded warehouse owners, freight forwarders, and logistics providers, were encouraged to engage with the system and provide feedback for improvements.
The ICT Project Team demonstrated the tracking system’s functionality, showing how Customs officers and stakeholders can monitor cargo movements through a centralized dashboard. The process is designed to operate 24/7, ensuring continuous cargo clearance without manual intervention.
The NCS urged stakeholders to take advantage of the training as it prepares for the full deployment of the Automated Transire Process, a key component of its ongoing digital transformation efforts.
