The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reaffirmed its commitment to revitalising and expanding downstream infrastructure across the country as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and boost efficiency in the oil and gas sector.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, made this known on Monday during the opening ceremony of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week in Lagos.
Speaking on the theme “Energy Sustainability: Beyond Boundaries & Competition,” Ojulari emphasised that competition alone could no longer guarantee efficiency, urging industry players to adopt collaboration, sustainability, and resilience as key drivers of growth.
“At NNPC, we are committed to deploying additional infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain while revamping existing downstream assets nationwide,” Ojulari said. “These facilities will be accessible to partners for storage and transportation of products, supporting strategic alliances and collaboration in the downstream sector.”
He noted that recent reforms — including strategic policies, fiscal incentives, and transparent regulatory frameworks under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) — have spurred sectoral growth and opened new opportunities in emerging energy segments such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and mini-LNG projects.
Ojulari urged participants to leverage the conference to address sectoral challenges, explore innovative technologies, and foster partnerships that promote decarbonisation while delivering economic value.
The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week serves as a premier platform for stakeholders across the continent’s downstream and midstream energy value chain, bringing together policy makers, regulators, operators, service providers, and consumers to discuss trends and opportunities shaping Africa’s energy landscape.
