Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President of Gas, Power & New Energy at NNPC Limited, delivered the keynote address at the 2026 Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Lagos Energy Week, unveiling the strategic direction of the NNPC Gas Master Plan 2026.
The blueprint aims to accelerate gas development, expand infrastructure, increase domestic supply, and position Nigeria as a regional and global gas hub. Key components include scaling LPG supply from 1.5 MTPA to 5 MTPA, expanding feedstock for Mini‑LNG and CNG, and driving growth in gas-based industries.
Ogunleye stressed NNPC’s commitment to leveraging Nigeria’s abundant gas resources for economic growth and improved quality of life, in line with the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas and targets to reach 10 BCF/D by 2027 and 12 BCF/D by 2030.
Executives from Chevron, Esso E&P, Midwestern, AGPC, and SNG lauded the plan, praising Ogunleye’s leadership in advancing implementation and operational excellence across the nation’s gas sector.
