By Ayomide Otitoju

Femi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has stepped down from his role, citing the need to attend to personal and family responsibilities.

In a personal statement released on Saturday, Soneye expressed gratitude for the support he received during his 20-month tenure, describing his time at the national energy company as a “profound honour.”

“This decision will allow me to devote more time to my family and attend to personal responsibilities,” he said, adding that he would remain a strong supporter and ambassador of NNPCL.

Soneye praised the communications team and external stakeholders for helping to shape a “vibrant and effective” media strategy for the company, which has been undergoing major structural reforms since its transition into a limited liability company.
