A team from the Federal Rural Electrification Agency has visited Ogun State to carry out a sensitisation programme at Onidundun community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State, on the importance of proper maintenance and sustainability of a power project to be located in the area.
Welcoming the team in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics in the State Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Adekunle Oyesanwen, said the sensitisation would avail the villagers opportunity to know more about the proposed project and proper way to handle it.
Oyesanwen urged the team to engage indigenes of the community during execution of the projects, saying it would give them a sense of belonging and enhance sustainability.
Responding, the team leader, Mr. Patrick Fash said the agency had explored other forms of renewable energy options, that are reliable and affordable, to meet the goals and aspirations of the Federal Government’s economic growth and recovery programmes, one of such is the mini grid power plant project to be provided in the community.
The team which consisted of officials of Rural Electrification Agency’s Zonal office, South West office and State Rural Electrification Officers in the Ministry later held the sensitisation at Onidundun community.
