On August 5th, 2024, the Okwu Ancient Kingdom in Abia State witnessed a momentous occasion as Hon. Francis Barthlomew Chima, widely known as OmoBarca, and his wife, Mrs. Francis Esther Chibuife, were honored with prestigious chieftaincy titles. The ceremony, held at Okwu Community Primary School, drew an impressive crowd of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and well-wishers.
Presided over by His Royal Majesty, Eze Boniface Izuogu, the Okwu Mgba 1 of Okwu Ancient Kingdom, the event saw Hon. Chima being conferred with the title of Agalaba 1, while Mrs. Chibuife received the title of Akwaugo 1. The ceremony was marked by traditional rites and deep cultural significance, with the couple taking oaths to uphold the values and responsibilities of their new roles.
Hon. Chima’s contributions to the community, including installing solar street lamps, empowering youths with motorcycles, renovating churches, and supporting widows and local security, were highlighted as reasons for the honor. His ongoing efforts to uplift the community, both in Okwu and beyond, have earned him widespread recognition and respect.
The event celebrated not only the couple’s new titles but also their commitment to the development and progress of the Okwu community.
