Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has praised the Lagos chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN) for initiating a community clinic project in Elesan Village, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, pledging government support to ensure its completion.
The governor gave the commendation on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by FOMWAN’s Amirah, Serifat Ajagbe, and members of the association’s executive at Lagos House, Marina.
Sanwo-Olu described the project as a laudable initiative that aligns with the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare access. He noted that the clinic, funded by the religious organisation, would serve all residents regardless of religious affiliation.
“The community clinic project is commendable. You have taken on this responsibility through your individual efforts, but you need more support. This is your government, and we will support you,” the governor said.
He added that the inclusive nature of the facility makes it deserving of government backing, as it complements public healthcare delivery.
“We will support you because the facility is for everyone. By doing this, you are also helping the government to achieve its goals,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu also extended prayers for a successful Hajj exercise, following the recent Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Earlier, Ajagbe reaffirmed FOMWAN’s commitment to supporting the state government in healthcare, education, community development, and humanitarian services. She commended the administration’s achievements, particularly in infrastructure and social development projects.
Highlighting the association’s activities, she said the clinic project—located along Orchid Road in Eti-Osa—was initiated to mark FOMWAN’s 40th anniversary in Lagos State.
According to her, the project is about 70 per cent complete, and the association is seeking government support to ensure its timely completion.
