Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has charged students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to embrace ethical leadership as a catalyst for security, sustainable development, and national transformation.
Delivering a keynote address titled “Ethical Leadership, Security, and Sustainable Development” at his alma mater, Governor Soludo stressed the critical role of students and academics in shaping the moral and developmental trajectory of the nation.
“Wisdom and knowledge are meant for service,” Soludo said. “Every intellectual must rise above personal ambitions and devote themselves to causes that impact their community and the larger society.”
Recalling his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the successful banking consolidation reforms he led, Soludo noted that true leadership demands courage, integrity, and transparency—even in the face of threats.
He credited ethical leadership for the progress recorded in Anambra under his administration, including improvements in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and governance.
“From transforming Okpoko from a slum into a livable town to our vision of Anambra as a Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley hybrid, we have anchored our progress on accountability and a shared vision of ‘One State, One People, One Agenda,’” he stated.
Soludo highlighted key achievements such as the construction of five new general hospitals, 22 smart schools, employment of over 8,000 teachers, massive road infrastructure, and a digitalized judiciary. His administration has also implemented water supply projects, youth digital empowerment schemes, and security operations that have restored peace in volatile areas.
“This is a vision-driven administration,” he concluded. “We must build a future where leadership is ethical, inclusive, and service-oriented.”
