The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has announced a strategic partnership with the Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF) of the Nigerian Bar Association to support the professional development of over 50,000 young legal practitioners across Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday, UBA outlined that the collaboration will provide academic sponsorships and specialized training with reputable agencies to enhance the careers of emerging lawyers. This initiative reflects UBA’s commitment to youth empowerment and Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Alero Ladipo, Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at UBA, emphasized the alignment of this partnership with the bank’s focus on youth development. “The partnership with NBA-YLF aligns strategically with UBA’s commitment to youth development and community engagement while reinforcing the bank’s dedication to fostering professional growth,” Ladipo said.
She highlighted the significance of investing in young lawyers as a means of bolstering Nigeria’s legal system and contributing to national development. “By investing in the professional growth of young lawyers, we’re not just supporting individuals; we’re strengthening the very fabric of our legal system and, by extension, our nation’s development,” Ladipo added.
Lemachi Chris-Asoluka, UBA’s Brand Project Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “This partnership marks a significant milestone, providing young lawyers with unparalleled opportunities to gain essential skills and connections in today’s competitive legal environment,” Chris-Asoluka noted.
The NBA-YLF, a subsidiary of the Nigerian Bar Association, represents lawyers with less than seven years of post-call experience.
