Alhaji Saadu Yusuf ,Dandare Gulma , Chairman Arewa community APC Lagos State has described Eid-el-Kabir as a divinely sanctioned Islamic festival that promotes sacrifice, obedience, and unity among Muslims.
Speaking on the significance of the celebration, Saadu said the festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s act of devotion and the practice of animal sacrifice, which includes rams, goats, cows, and other livestock for those who can afford it.
He noted that the act of sacrifice, known as Qurbani, is not compulsory for Muslims who cannot afford it, adding that such individuals may share in the celebration in other ways, including offering smaller animals like chickens.
According to him, Eid-el-Kabir also serves as a period for strengthening family bonds, reconnecting with relatives, and promoting social harmony within communities.
Yusuf, Highlights Significance of Eid-el-Kabir Sacrifice Ritual urged Nigerians to embrace unity across ethnic and religious lines, stressing the need for peace and cooperation to foster national development.
He also called for improved economic conditions in the country, urging government authorities to address hardship facing citizens and ensure policies that promote inclusive growth and stability.
While acknowledging ongoing government reforms, he encouraged Nigerians to remain patient and allow elected leaders to complete their constitutional terms, while continuing to engage constructively on national challenges.
He appealed to political leaders at all levels to intensify efforts toward addressing economic hardship and improving the welfare of citizens, expressing hope for a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
