By Ayomide Otitoju

MTN Nigeria has taken its ‘Go MAD’ (Make a Difference) campaign to Ibadan, inspiring individuals to drive positive change in their communities. The event, held at Cloud 7 Lounge, combined motivational stories, immersive virtual reality experiences, energetic DJ sets, dance performances, and interactive games, all reinforcing MTN’s commitment to digital empowerment and social impact.

Speaking at the event, Adebajo Onofua, Regional Manager, Customer Operations, MTN Nigeria, emphasized the campaign’s goal of celebrating creativity and resilience in Nigeria. “Go MAD with MTN Data is about empowering people to do more, own their world, and make a difference. It’s a celebration of people who put the extra in the ordinary,” he said.

A highlight of the event was the screening of an inspirational video featuring 15-year-old autistic painter, Kanyeyachukwu. His remarkable journey of breaking barriers through art and his ambition to set a Guinness World Record for the largest canvas painting deeply moved the audience. With his artwork displayed at global institutions like UNICEF and the World Bank, his story embodied the ‘Go MAD’ spirit, urging attendees to take bold steps in making an impact.

The event also featured real-life testimonials from individuals using MTN Data to transform their lives. Popular influencer couple, Endurance and Anna Peters—known as ‘Mr. & Mrs. Peters’—shared how social media strengthened their relationship. “We met on Facebook,” Endurance revealed. “She kept asking for data, so I decided to make a difference by marrying her.” Anna added that MTN Data has played a crucial role in expanding her thrift business by connecting her with customers nationwide.

Music producer Timothy shared how MTN has helped him expand his reach. “I teach music production and mixing online. With MTN Data, I connect with people in Ibadan and beyond Nigeria,” he said.

Closing the event, Oyeronke George, Manager, Go-To Market, urged attendees to take action. “Mastery isn’t enough. Don’t just stay where you are. Go make a difference. Stand out in your community and create an impact. With MTN Data, the opportunities are limitless.”

The ‘Go MAD’ campaign has previously been activated in Abuja, Enugu, and Calabar, with Ibadan marking another step in MTN’s mission to empower changemakers. With more cities on the horizon, MTN continues to prove that small actions can lead to meaningful, lasting change.
