The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, has urged Muslims to sustain the values of piety, peace, and compassion cultivated during Ramadan beyond the fasting period.
Speaking in a post-Ramadan message, Tajudeen emphasised that devotion to God should not end with the holy month, noting that the spiritual discipline observed during Ramadan should continue into the lunar month of Shawwal and beyond. He called on Muslims to remain mindful of their conduct and promote peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths.
He also advised Muslim women to reflect the lessons of Ramadan in their daily lives, particularly in fostering harmony and tolerance, stressing that Islam encourages peaceful relations and mutual respect across religious divides.
On global tensions, Tajudeen called for divine intervention in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, urging all parties to cease hostilities and pursue peace, warning that the conflict has had far-reaching consequences on the global economy.
Similarly, a community Islamic leader, Muqtar Balogun, described Ramadan as a period of spiritual renewal, compassion, and service to humanity. He noted that the fasting period teaches sacrifice, empathy for the less privileged, and a deeper connection with God.
Balogun urged Muslims to sustain acts of charity, community service, and moral discipline beyond Ramadan, stressing that the lessons of the holy month should guide behaviour throughout the year.
He also called on government officials, particularly Muslims in public office, to uphold accountability and prioritise service to the people, noting that leadership is a responsibility that requires transparency and dedication.
Addressing global developments, Balogun appealed to world leaders to embrace dialogue and avoid conflict, warning that ongoing tensions are disrupting global economic stability, particularly in energy supply chains.
Both speakers concluded by calling for unity, continued prayers for Nigeria, and collective efforts to promote peace, development, and national progress.
