Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, came alive with music, dance and youthful energy as the YABATECH edition of Soundcity OnTour ended with the Bigi Music Competition and performances by popular artistes.
The three-day campus activation, which began on September 15, featured music, talent competitions and entertainment, with emerging artistes competing for a ₦1 million cash prize and an opportunity to perform on a bigger stage.
Oladapo Taiwo Opeyemi emerged winner of the Bigi Music Competition after a keenly contested final.
Iheanacho Favour Emeka finished as first runner-up, while Anikene Victor Chidera placed second runner-up.
The Fearless Dance Challenge also drew students to the stage, with participants showcasing their dance skills, creativity and individual styles.
The entertainment continued with performances by Modola, Táríq, Syemca, Slimcase, Mr P, Kodee, Duuwa and Rukmani, who kept students singing and dancing throughout the concert.
The activation was organised to provide young Nigerians with platforms to showcase their talents, express themselves and connect with opportunities.
Speaking on the event, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, Ekuma Eze, said the Bigi and Fearless brands remained committed to supporting youth creativity.
“Young people are not waiting for culture to happen; they are creating it every day. Through the Bigi and Fearless brands, we want to meet them where that creativity is most visible and give them platforms where they can express themselves, discover their capabilities and connect with opportunities beyond the immediate moment,” he said.
The YABATECH edition concluded with the organisers promising more music, talent competitions and entertainment as Soundcity OnTour continues to other campuses.
