Nigerian music star Asake has released his fourth studio album, M$NEY, a 13-track project that signals a new phase in his career following his exit from YBNL Nation.
The album, released on Friday, May 1 under GIRAN Republic and EMPIRE, is his first full-length project under his independent imprint. It comes amid continued global recognition for the singer, including multiple Billboard Afrobeats chart entries and strong streaming performance on Spotify Nigeria.
The project blends Afrobeats with jazz, amapiano, orchestral arrangements, and choral elements, reflecting what the artist describes as a broader creative direction. It opens with a choral introduction and moves across diverse sonic styles while retaining its African identity.
M$NEY also features international collaborations with Tiakola, DJ Snake, and South African producer Kabza De Small, underscoring its cross-continental appeal.
Speaking on the project, Asake said the album reflects his “spiritual and creative journey,” shaped by gratitude, personal growth, and life experiences.
The rollout began earlier in 2025 with singles such as “Why Love,” “Badman Gangsta,” and “Worship,” which previewed the album’s genre-blending direction. Other tracks on the project include “Gratitude,” “Forgiveness,” “Rora,” and “Asambe.”
Across the album, Asake explores themes of spirituality, ambition, and reflection, with “money” framed more as a symbol of value and purpose than material wealth.
M$NEY follows a string of successful projects including Mr Money With The Vibe (2022), Work of Art (2023), and Lungu Boy (2024), which recorded significant commercial success.
Early reactions have been largely positive, with listeners praising its production and artistic evolution, although some tracks have sparked online debate.
The album’s artwork, designed by Iraqi-Dutch artist Arthar Jabar, features a sculptural concept that aligns with its themes of legacy and introspection.
With M$NEY, Asake further cements his position as one of Afrobeats’ leading global voices, expanding his sound and artistic identity beyond traditional boundaries.
