Renowned Nigerian gospel singers Nathaniel Bassey and Frank Edwards, alongside the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, have paid tributes following the death of celebrated American worship leader, Dr. Ron Kenoly.
Kenoly’s death was confirmed on Tuesday by his longtime music director, Bruno Miranda, in a statement posted on the worship leader’s official Instagram page. The statement disclosed that Kenoly passed away on February 3, 2026, although the cause of death was not revealed.
“This morning, Feb. 3, 2026, we said goodbye to Dr. Ron Kenoly,” the statement read.
Reacting to the news, Nathaniel Bassey, in a post on Instagram, described Kenoly as a foundational inspiration whose ministry had profoundly shaped his own worship journey and that of many others around the world.
Similarly, Bishop Wale Oke, in a statement titled “Farewell to a True Worshipper,” mourned the late gospel icon and extended condolences to his family. He prayed for divine comfort for Kenoly’s wife, children, and grandchildren, describing the late singer’s passing as “Heaven’s gain.”
“Life well lived, Heaven’s gain. Thank you for the music, thank you for the impact. Rest well, Dr. Ron Kenoly,” Oke said.
Frank Edwards also joined other gospel ministers and worshippers globally in celebrating Kenoly’s enduring legacy, which spans decades of influential worship music and global ministry.
