The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Dayo Lajide, on Tuesday conducted an inspection tour of the Folarin Coker Staff Clinic at the State Secretariat, Alausa, as part of her ongoing familiarisation visits since assuming office.
Dr. Lajide toured all departments and units under the Directorate of Staff Health Services to assess service delivery and evaluate the quality of healthcare provided to civil servants. She said the visit was aimed at ensuring that public servants receive optimal care to support their wellbeing and productivity.
She noted that access to the clinic was made possible for Lagos State civil servants under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, adding that services at the facility are free. She also encouraged staff to enrol in the ILERA EKO health insurance scheme.
The Permanent Secretary highlighted the clinic’s range of services, including dental and eye care, general outpatient services, physiotherapy, laboratory diagnostics, inpatient wards and pharmacy services. She described the facility as comprehensive and staff-focused, stressing that improved health outcomes among workers translate to greater productivity in public service.
Dr. Lajide further disclosed that the clinic operates a fully paperless Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, which enhances efficiency, confidentiality and continuity of care. She explained that minor ailments are treated at the facility, while more complex cases are referred to the state’s general hospitals.
In his remarks, the Director of Staff Health Services, Dr. Abdulrasheed Kolade, said the Directorate is mandated to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of Lagos State public servants through the centrally located clinic. He described the facility as a one-stop healthcare centre offering emergency services, oral health, ophthalmology in collaboration with the Blindness Prevention Programme, physiotherapy, digital X-ray diagnostics, pharmacy and ambulance services.
Kolade added that the clinic also prioritises preventive care, including annual medical screenings, cancer screenings, nutritional counselling, health education, family planning and mental health support through the Lagos State Wellness Centre (LASWEL).
Health workers at the clinic commended the Permanent Secretary’s visit, describing it as morale-boosting and reaffirming their commitment to delivering quality and holistic care.
The Folarin Coker Staff Clinic remains a key component of the Lagos State Government’s healthcare framework, supporting the resilience and productivity of the state’s workforce.
