The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has intensified efforts to alleviate fuel queue gridlock across the state by deploying more officers to key areas. This move comes in response to the resurgence of fuel shortages, which has led to extended wait times and higher prices at filling stations.
Motorists have been experiencing significant delays as they navigate long queues at petrol stations. In an effort to mitigate the resulting traffic congestion, LASTMA has announced increased patrols around filling stations and issued a stern warning against indiscriminate parking.
Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s spokesman, quoted General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki, who emphasized that the enhanced deployment aims to address issues caused by motorists blocking roads while waiting for fuel. “We want our roads to be free-flowing; fuel queues should not become a burden for other road users in Lagos,” Bakare-Oki stated.
Bakare-Oki also underscored the importance of effective traffic management in maintaining a seamless transportation system in Lagos.
