MTN Nigeria has made history as the first Nigerian organization, telecommunications company, and entity within the MTN Group to earn the Compliance Management System (CMS) certification from the International Accreditation Service (IAS).
This prestigious certification underscores MTN Nigeria’s dedication to upholding world-class compliance standards across its extensive operations. The certification encompasses a wide array of activities, including telecommunications management, digital services, mobile voice and data, digital platforms, wholesale distribution, fixed and mobile broadband connectivity, and advanced technology solutions for corporate and institutional clients nationwide.
MTN Nigeria’s Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, Obiageli Ugboma, praised the milestone, stating on Tuesday:
“Achieving this feat is a testament to our robust compliance framework and proactive approach to managing risks in an ever-changing digital landscape. It reinforces our promise to connect Nigerians with secure, reliable, and innovative solutions.”
The IAS is a globally recognized accreditation body, evaluating organizations worldwide based on national and international standards. Its accreditation validates the credibility and global acceptance of certified entities.
The ISO 37301:2021 standard, which forms the basis for the CMS certification, provides a framework for effective compliance management. It emphasizes adherence to laws, regulations, and ethical standards while fostering stakeholder trust and enhancing governance and operational efficiency.
MTN Nigeria’s achievement sets a new benchmark for excellence within the telecommunications sector, showcasing its commitment to integrity, risk mitigation, and sustainable corporate governance. This milestone positions the company as a trailblazer in compliance management both in Nigeria and across the global industry.
