President Bola Tinubu on Friday paid an official visit to the Oba of Lagos, His Majesty Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at the historic Iga Idunganran Palace.

In a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, President Tinubu commended traditional institutions and their leaders for their vital role in shaping Nigerian society.

“Today, I had the honour of visiting His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos, at the historic Iga Idunganran Palace, a site rich in culture and tradition,” Tinubu wrote.

The president revealed that his discussions with the Oba centered on the critical contributions of traditional institutions to governance and societal development.

“Kabiyesi and I engaged in meaningful conversations about the role traditional institutions play in shaping our society and how they can improve on their role as partners in governance and development,” he said.

Tinubu noted that the meeting also addressed Nigeria’s pressing challenges, with a shared focus on leveraging traditional values to foster unity and prosperity.

“Thank you, Kabiyesi, for the opportunity of this important meeting,” the president added.

The visit underscores Tinubu’s emphasis on collaboration with traditional leaders to address national issues and build a more cohesive and prosperous society.
