Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated former Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Babatunde Fowler, on his 70th birthday.
Fowler, who turned 70 on Wednesday, August 12, was described by the governor as a respected public officer, tax administrator and social reformer who has contributed to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu joined family, friends and associates at Fowler’s 70th birthday thanksgiving service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
The governor commended Fowler for his commitment and contributions to public service, particularly in revenue generation at both state and federal levels.
In a statement, Sanwo-Olu described Fowler as a worthy ambassador of Lagos State and Nigeria, noting his leadership as a tax administrator and manager of public resources.
“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, the government and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate former Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mr. Babatunde Fowler, on his 70th birthday anniversary,” the governor said.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Fowler served as the first Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) and Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue before later heading the FIRS.
He wished the former FIRS chairman good health and a long life, while praying for continued strength and grace for him to serve God and humanity.
