Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election. Soludo, who ran unopposed, secured overwhelming support during the party’s primary held in Awka on Saturday.
Out of 3,260 accredited delegates, 3,175 participated in the exercise, with 3,172 valid votes cast. The incumbent governor received 3,168 affirmative votes, with no dissenting votes recorded and four ballots declared invalid.
The chairman of the electoral panel, Uche Nwegbo, announced Soludo’s victory, declaring him the party’s candidate to enthusiastic applause from party members and supporters.
In his acceptance speech, Soludo expressed deep gratitude, describing the overwhelming support as historic. “I am humbled by this unprecedented mandate. With humility, I accept the nomination to continue the progressive transformation of Anambra State,” he said.
The governor also confirmed that his current deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, will remain his running mate for the forthcoming election.
With APGA’s candidate now confirmed, attention turns to other political parties as they prepare for their primaries ahead of the November poll.
