ncumbent Anambra State Governor and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has raised concerns over an alleged plot to rig the ongoing governorship election. Soludo made the claim while casting his vote on Saturday at Polling Unit 002, Umuezeadigo Street, Isuofia, Aguata LGA.
Without naming the party involved, Soludo alleged that the plotters intend to “swap election results” during collation. “We hear they have even had meetings with INEC not to upload the results so that they can have the opportunity to manipulate the results,” he said.
Despite the allegation, Soludo expressed confidence in the electoral process, stressing that APGA supporters are vigilant and organized. “Our people are united. We will follow the process from the polling unit to collation at the ward, local governments, and the state. Once the system works, we do not doubt that we are going to win the 21 local governments,” he said.
Soludo is competing against 15 other candidates in the poll, including APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu, YPP’s Paul Chukwuma, ADC’s John Nwosu, and LP’s George Moghalu. The election, spanning Anambra’s 21 local government areas, involves 2,802,790 registered voters across 5,718 polling units. Sixteen candidates are contesting across three senatorial districts, including two female governorship candidates and six female deputy governorship candidates.
